ABOUT THE WANG REPORT

The Wang Report is an APAC-focused news and analysis publication based in Hong Kong. It covers cross-strait and Indo-Pacific geopolitics, Hong Kong finance, regional cybersecurity, AI, climate, health, sport and entertainment, with daily briefings and weekly long-form columns from a named masthead of senior correspondents.

The masthead

Walter Wang (王 凱 然) is Editor-in-Chief. The publication carries the masthead he assembled: fourteen correspondents across nine desks, plus two news anchors filing daily editions. The correspondents are authored personas and the work under their bylines is produced by AI under human editorial direction; their biographical details are illustrative rather than literal. See the Masthead page for full bios, beat assignments, and the full note on how the masthead works. Every briefing carries Walter's margin note, signed -- WR. Our standards for these personas are set out in our editorial standards.

What we publish

Editorial principles

How we source

News context is drawn from major wire services and regional outlets: Reuters, Bloomberg, the SCMP, RTHK, the FT, the Economist, and specialised feeds across each desk's beat. Editorial selection, ranking, and the desk filings are produced under the masthead's editorial process. Long-form columns are unique to The Wang Report; daily briefings are original analysis pegged to the day's news.

Refresh cadence

The main page refreshes through the day as news evolves. Section pages refresh on a regular cycle. Long-form columns publish on the cadence noted on each desk page.

Contact

Editorial inquiries: editor@wangreport.com. Corrections, story tips, and feedback can be sent to the same address. See also the Contact page.

Our full editorial standards set out sourcing, corrections, independence, and our use of AI in detail.

Ownership and funding

The Wang Report is independently owned and operated from Hong Kong by its founder. It is not funded by anyone: no advertising is served, nothing is sponsored, and nothing is behind a paywall. If advertising is ever introduced it will be kept separate from editorial, and this page will say so first. The publication takes no sponsored editorial.

How it is built

The Wang Report runs on a custom static publishing platform. Since 12 October 2026, OpenAI models accessed through Codex have powered its language-model research, ranking and drafting, following a migration from Anthropic's Claude. Source ranking, drafting and publishing are automated. The founder sets the editorial direction and the standards; automated fact and sensitivity checks run before anything is published, and pieces are read and corrected after publication rather than approved one by one before it. Source aggregation runs on RSS and search feeds. Our full approach to AI is documented in our editorial standards.

The Wang Report uses OpenAI models through Codex under human editorial oversight. See our Editorial Standards.
