The Wang Report has no user accounts and does not collect personal data you do not volunteer. No email addresses are collected unless you contact us directly.
If you subscribe to the Executive Brief we store three things: the email address you gave, the date you gave it, and the page you submitted it from. Nothing more. We use them to send you the Executive Brief, which is one email on the first Monday of the month, and for no other purpose. We do not sell, rent, or share the list, and we do not pass it to advertisers or analytics.
Subscription is double opt-in: your address is added only after you click the confirmation link we email you. An unconfirmed request is deleted automatically after seven days. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link that works in a single click and deletes the record rather than flagging it. You can also write to editor@wangreport.com to be removed, to see what is held about you, or to have it corrected.
The list is held in Cloudflare Workers KV, the key-value store attached to the site's hosting, and is readable only by the publisher. Confirmation and brief emails are sent through Google's Gmail service.
This site uses Google Analytics 4, which sets first-party cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) and collects standard usage data, including an IP-derived approximate location, browser and device type, and the pages you view. We use this only to understand which coverage readers find useful. See how Google uses data when you use our site.
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of their hosting service. See GitHub's Privacy Statement for details.
This site carries no advertising today (corrected 7 September 2026; an earlier version of this policy described ads that were never served). If advertising is introduced it will be served via Google AdSense and this policy will be updated first. Google, as a third-party vendor, would then use cookies and web beacons to serve ads here, and its use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Other third-party vendors and ad networks may likewise use cookies and web beacons to serve and measure ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and manage third-party advertising cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any non-essential cookies, including advertising cookies, are set. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Until consent is given, advertising is served in a non-personalised mode where required by law.
The Wang Report links to external news sources (NYT, SCMP, Reuters, Bloomberg, BBC, RTHK, AP, Hacker News, and others). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; their content remains the property of their respective publishers.
The Wang Report uses OpenAI models through Codex within its editorial production process to assist with research, ranking and drafting. Its publishing software handles layout. Our editorial approach and the role of named correspondents are described on the About and Masthead pages.
