Picture an auntie in Kowloon East. She has watched that building go up for years. Now it says hospital on the front, and the news says it is open.
So she figures it does everything. Her husband gets chest pains late one night, and she doesn't think twice. New hospital, close to home, go.
Here is the catch. RTHK reports Kai Tak Hospital is opening in phases. That means some services start first and the rest follow later. The building is open. The whole hospital isn't, yet.
Think of a new restaurant doing a soft opening. The sign is up and the lights are on. Half the menu is still "coming soon." Fine for noodles. Less fine at a hospital.
I can't give you the list of what is running today. The RTHK report doesn't spell it out in what I have in front of me, and I won't guess. Guessing about someone's husband's chest pains is a bad hobby.
So here is the plain version. If you live nearby, find out which services are open before you need one. Ask the hospital, or your family doctor. Do it this week, in daylight, over a cup of tea.
Then find out when the next phase starts. That date is the one that tells you when the auntie's assumption comes true.
